Bloggers Making Kony Famous

Jasmine and I were just reading negative comments that were made about Kim Kardashian being on this months issue of Allure Magazine. We are big fans of Allure! But I have to say, we kind of agree with some of these comments. In my own personal opinion, Kim Kardashian is a beautiful woman, but honestly she is not someone I would look up to or even aspire to be. Making a sex tape is no way to make yourself famous. The sad part is that Kim isn't the one making herself famous, it is US making her famous by sharing the video, by talking about her, by fueling the controversies she finds herself in. This is true for many other celebrities as well.
So our conversation continued and Jasmine mentioned Kony 2012. I had no idea who or what this was about! But after visiting the site Kony 2012. Invisible Children and watching the video (i cried the whole way through, by the way) I was so filled with outrage.

I know this blog is about fashion and beauty but we felt so strongly about this issue we had to write about it. I feel like we live in a box and we rarely look outside because we are afraid of knowing what is going out in the world. With this being said, I find it unnerving how people like you and me have the power to make a sex-tape go viral in minutes and make those people famous but we think we are powerless against someone who commits crimes against humanity!

If you have watched the video and you believe you can do something please copy these picture. Use your voice as a blogger to make Kony famous.

  2. I think its sad that it takes a video like this to make people understand what is going on in the world and that we can actually do something to help stop it. Celebrities make front page news, while stories like this have been put in the back pages of newspapers and magazines for years, un-noticed. How many times have you seen a celeb scandal on the front page then a small column somewhere else about a brave soldier dying over in afghan? It sickens me.
I really hope this video and the kony 2012 campaign reaches its goal of capturing kony and freeing the thousands of children under his rule. Its just a shame that it has taken something like this to open peoples eyes and take the steps to make a difference.
The man behind all this is truly inspiring and im sure his little boy will be very proud when hes old enough to fully understand. If only the rest of us were as determined and strong willed as him, this world would surely be a better place.

    1. I completely agree! Unfortunately I have been one of those people that searches for the celebrity gossip and overlooks the real life stories unfolding around us. This video has definitely impacted my life and I am very happy you took the time to see it. Thank you for actually reading this post!! As bloggers we have a strong voice and we need to use it to better this world.

  3. I think that people need to research the causes that they back because this is going to be BAD for the continent of Africa.
What people do not understand is that this is a ploy to start a US-backed war on the continent of Africa. In 2010, OIL was found in the Uganda. Less than 12 months later, the US government sent in 100 military “advisors” to help the Ugandan government find Joseph Kony. As of today, March 7th, 2012, Kony is NOT in Uganda. He has been reported to be in the Congolese jungle. The American people are weary of war so the celebrities and social media are being used to draw public support. America has seen how the continent of Africa proved to be a resourceful asset to the Chinese. The #Kony2012 movement is a way for America to engage in a turf war with the Chinese in order to secure Ugandan resources for themselves.

where is the evidence to support the allegations that these kids are being abducted by Kony? Where are there wailing parents? And if the parents were killed, where are their bodies? You should want more information than just a propaganda film before believing any of it. Especially since they are asking for donations.

Overall, your heard is in the right place, you are sympathetic and want to help, but please do your research before backing causes like this.
