Unexpected Pregnancy

I recently read about a young girl who just found out she is pregnant and really unsure about what to do. It makes me sad to think that there are many girls out there in this same situation. I mean, there is even a TV show dedicated to young girls who are pregnant. The problem with this is that shows like that make it seem like the norm. All of sudden its normal (and even glorified in a way) to be young and pregnant. I could probably rant about this alone for a while, but the point here is that this shouldn't be the norm but it DOES happen. When it happens everyone is quick to say "if i were you..." This really pushes my buttons because the truth of the matter is: you are NOT her. There is a difference between being supportive and pushing someone to do something that could hurt them for the rest of their life!

Any girl that chooses to have sex is well aware of the possibility of getting pregnant. Especially if they don't use protection. Sometimes pregnancy is possible even if you are using protection. So what happens when it fails? You have options: keep the baby, have an abortion, or give it up for adoption. The point is you shouldn't do what people tell you to do if they were you. You should ultimately do what's best for the baby and yourself. No one really knows the specifics of your life, or what got you into this situation in the first place.

So, all I can really say to girls in this situation is: Think about it. Research your options. What if you were that baby? What would you want your mom to do? And above all: Don't let yourself get pushed into doing something that you will regret for the rest of your life.

  1. i am against young pregnancy, meaning 21 and under but i am deffinately against abortions! i believe any girl can prevent getting pregnant in the first place, and if pregnant already its because it was their choice knowing that theres alot of ways to prevent it! unless of course there is a rape. i dont like when girls think its so easy to raise a baby and think because they have their parents support they can go and keep doing what they do as if the baby does not exist.

  2. my website is, idk why it shows another lol

  3. I agree that teen pregnancy can definitely be prevented. Most teens nowadays know exactly what can happen when you have sex but too many don't see the responsibility that comes with it because they see other teens having babies who have people who enable them to keep making the same choices over and over.  I honestly think it is our responsibility to help teens make informed decisions. BUT even grown women make questionable choices, so i believe its a matter of being responsible with your own body.
